Please choose 2 songs covered in this course that deal with the 1916 Rebellion. (Please refer to Chapter 2 and 3 in Desmond Greaves’ book. I have posted those chapters in this folder).
Please analyze and compare the two songs and references in the songs to the Easter Rebellion. How do the songs deal with the Easter Rising? Are they factual or dramatic?
Please read the readings we have covered in this course and do additional research by going to the library and finding relevant books or journal articles.
Please submit a 2 page essay in Microsoft Word format (I will not accept PDFs) by uploading it to Blackboard.
Please include a complete list of references on a separate page with your paper. Please include all songs, videos, books and articles read in your list of citations. Please follow MLA style for citations and used double spacing.

Rubric for Essay 1
Paper achieving the grade of A should include many of the following
+ Paper clearly compares and contrasts the two songs.
+ The essay has clear links to discussions held in the course classroom and online.
+ Aspects of assigned readings and Blackboard notes are evident.
+5 RELEVANT secondary sources have been referred to, to support the student’s arguments and opinions.
+ Candidate’s own thoughts and opinions have been included in the conclusion.
+ Any quotes have been included in quotation marks not making up more than 10% of the paper. Source of quotes are noted at the end of the paper.
+ Essay is roughly 600 words.
